This was my first visit to see Mr Norton, and I was very nervous, but he soon put me at ease explaining the processes, exercises required, the time factor My X-ray was 6 months old that he had up on screen, though at the time I did not know that, and he listened rather than dismissing me when I explained my condition had been deteriorating rapidly week by week and I was in a great deal of pain. He organised for me to have another x-ray there and then, which revealed my true deteriorated condition. He was gentle and empathetic as he explained what the x-ray revealed and I felt confident he would help me to the best of his ability. Ahead of me was a list of other patients which was a scary thought, as my hip could become inoperable after time, but he was reassuring.

My hip surgery was complex due to my underlying physical health issues, and years of the problems being undetected until recently. Once referred to Mr Norton, he was able to perform this surgery and although I have to have further physio, I'm now pain free. He was able to show me and explain the scans so I was able to understand what was happening to my hip before hand. I will see him again in 6 months ago he can monitor my progress

I only have good things to say about Mr. Norton. I recently had an appointment with Mr. Norton, where he explained my Xray which had been done before my appointment and a previous Xray, explaining clearly how there was a deterioration and had genuine sympathy about the severe pain that I was suffering with and had been for the past 2/3 years. He listened to all I had to say without interrupting and answered all my questions in a professional way, but in a way that I could understand. He explained that I needed surgery urgently and told me roughly when the surgery would take place. He explained how long the waiting list was and how the strikes would affect the waiting time slightly. He then asked if this was ok, I have never had a doctor/consultant or surgeon ask this. I left my appointment feeling relief that finally someone listened to me about the severe pain and wanted to help resolve this as soon as possible. We need a few more Mr. Norton's in the NHS.
